The Ultimate Traditional Korean Experience

~ BULGOGI !!!!!!

We invited AeRan and Kyung Hee out to eat with us for supper. Kendra loved it! And she and I both ate a "bite of bulgogi" for Sandy Endress and loved every bite of it! :) So, here are lots of pictures:

When KyungHee and AeRan arrived, they told us that the restaurant was sending a van to come pick us all up and taxi us the 20 min to the restaurant. Wow!! And at no charge! But asking further, we found out this is not normal and it was because the owner of this restaurant goes to the same church as us. We waited at the house until we heard a horn honking and thought it was the van. We headed down the steps with our umbrellas, but it was a false alarm. So we waited in the drizzling rain. ...and waited...and waited... until finally it came.

Upon entering the entryway to the restaurant, you must remove your shoes. You walk around the restaurant stockingfooted or barefoot as the case may be.

~ Appetizers!!!! Kendra finally tries the squid!! She did not, however, attempt the raw liver!

~ Cooking the pork (we ordered both bulgogi and pork)

~ cutting up the meat...stirring it around...now, it's ready to eat!

Take a leaf of lettuce and place a piece of meat on it. Then pile on vegetables and kimchi. (You can start with a small pile of rice under the meat, but I did not do it in this picture.)

~ wrap it up... ... ... ... ... ... and enjoy!!!

~ And now for the bulgogi!!! ~Yum!!!

~ a little (probably ~2 year old) girl came over from the other side of the partition. We had fun playing around with her and getting her to smile...at one point, she brought in her mat to join us!

Our table after we finished...a lot of left-over food, isn't it? You feel like you're wasting a lot of foor, but there are no "doggie-bags." They brought us 3 bottles of "Cider," or Sprite, after our meal...compliments of the house. You'll notice from the second picture that we were in a little partitioned-off "room." There were many tables out in the main room(we're thinking for smoking), and then private rooms lining the perimeter of the building. It's nice for visiting with each other.
