BOO!!! Gonna getcha! (Kendra's favorite fish photo) Then we bought kimchi and showed Kendra how it is prepared for the table.
Here is "The Guy's Store." Of course that is not the actual name of the store, but that became it's nickname early on and it stuck. *Note the narrow walkways...which get more narrow when it rains and he has to bring in the stuff from outside. A very nice man owns it and operates it every day. We checked around on prices and found that he was very resonable and usually less expensive than other shops, so we usually go there first to see if he has things that we need. I think we were his best customers the first few months after we arrived! We were buying one-time necessities like towels, clothes hangers, mirror, shelves, garbage cans, etc. When we buy a bundle of things, we noticed that he gave us an instant discount...if the bill totalled 21,500 won, he would only accept 20,000 won. Now, we greet each other each time we pass by his store and see each other. I must share a couple incidents that happened while Kendra was here... The first time I went in with Kendra, the man gave her back 1,000 won. The second time we went, he left the store (much to my surprise!) while we were browsing and deciding on gifts to send back to the States. He carries some beautiful table clothes and such! As we were ready to pay, he came back in and handed us each a melon cream/yogurt-popsicle when we paid. Wow! We realized that he'd run across the street and bought us the sweet since it was hot & muggy out. That was so nice and thoughtful of him! We savored them as we continued our shopping that evening.
This is not a shop, but the public bathroom not far from us. It is situated between two roads as they "y" off, so you can enter from either street. On one side are 3 urinals and on the other side are 3 toilets - 2 for women and 1 for men. The kids were gracious enough to pose for Kendra!
