First Sunday Supper

Koshin is Jesse and Joy's age and they seem to be on the road to becoming good friends! We found out that we inherited hosting the weekly church suppers along with the house! Everyone usually helps out with the food prep, then we open our big table in the living room and enjoy.
We made miso soup (which we really like!), and a "hen and chick" dish, I believe. It's called such because it contains both chicken and eggs in it.

Here is everyone - not everyone comes back for supper, but these are the "regulars." Starting at the left and going around the table: Reiko-san, Jesse, Joy, James, John, Iwama-san, Carrie, Akihiro, Kotaro, and Koshin. ("san" means Mr/Mrs)
To tell you a little tidbit about each one of them: We have been able to try lots of different foods since arriving because Reiko-san has come by the house many times with good food to eat. Iwama-san always brings flowers to church for the lunch table at noon. Akihiro and Carrie have helped us with so much and are our "cell-phone emergency callers!" Kotaro is 14, and he always picks our garden veggies Sunday afternoons. :) And I already mentioned Koshin. Their mother helped us out the first week and also brought us a yummy pot of curry. One person missing is Li-san - he was in China visiting his wife and new baby girl.

Here is a church picture when the Klaus family visited on our second Sunday here. I will make an attempt at the names and trust Carrie to set me straight if I mess up. :)
Left to right: (Andrew Klaus was our photographer, so he is missing from the picture)
