House & Garden

Views of the House and Garden
Front view of house from the street. Church is just on the left.
We have about 5 steps across to church in the morning!
Side view of house with the church behind it.

View from the backyard, with church on the right.
There are roses right out the back windows!

Wider view of the backyard, with the grape arbor, little sheds, and neighbor's house on the left. The cement slab has become the parking lot on Sunday and playing grounds for the kids during the week. The brown patch is where a flower garden was, but needed to come out for parking cars.

View from the house toward the backyard of the church -
a playground set and room to run & ride bikes!

View of the middle of the backyard...kind of overgrown right now, but has fruit trees, squash, and some HUGE sunflowers in the middle. The fruit trees are nuquat and fig.

To the right of the above picture is the garden. John made
a good dent in clearing the pathway so far.

Our garden is yielding tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, pumpkins, and squash.
Joy is my daily "garden checker." She loves picking the produce.

Now for the work!
One of the first projects was removing all green from the driveway and putting down a temporary cover to keep the weeds out until it becomes more permanent.

Here's a close-up of the crew! Btw, I don't have proof since
I was the picture-taker, but we were a crew of five!

Ahhhh! Finished at last!!! A full day's job.

Rose Bed

James worked on this patch and did a good job. Then when
I trim the roses, I like to scatter the petals around.

Grape Arbor

Before pictures...lots of flowers,
- but hard to get to the grapes underneath.

Clearing out the patch...

And discovering it is in the shape of a heart!
(with one lone rose in a ventrical)

So the kids wanted a picture with it ~

This concludes our first full week of outdoor work here.
