Cooking with the Ito's

Cooking with the Ito's

James watches as Akihiro shows Jesse how to cook up the marinated squid for supper.
A peek over their shoulders......
The Great IRON CHEF AKI! (and his assistant!)
Meanwhile, the ladies are working on the miso soup, and it's ready for test-tasting. Yum! Baby-Kun likes it...it passes!
The men have finished the meat and we're ready to eat!
To the horror and laughter of the table, Akihiro almost eats the fish eyeball. A whole fish head cooked in the miso soup is the secret ingredient to great tasting miso soup! It is removed afterwards, but this particular eyeball fell out. Go ahead and double click the picture! :)

Sunday Church Dinners---a Korean meal

One Sunday, we whipped up a Korean meal for everyone. It was an oximoron....we westerners teaching them how to eat Korean food! It was also humerous because they were not a little skeptical of how it was going to taste with all they'd heard about Korean food being so hot and spicy. We assured them that we wouldn't make anything too hot, and that most times it simply depends on how people "build" their own bites. As it turned out, it seems we got a very high compliment---one of them said that it was the best non-Japanese(foreign) food he'd ever eaten. I've included a short video clip of the meal below.
Akihiro entertains the youngsters after supper with a "trick-flyer." They tried so hard to figure it out! There is a video of it below, although it's a little dark.
