Last Friday, we had a Christmas program with the HanSeo University Library. To recap, this is the largest (or possibly only, I forget which) English library outside of Seoul and fortunately for us, it just happens to be located in SeoSan. It is a private library, off campus. All three kids take English classes there along with Korean children. I took a few pictures of the library. The kids wanted to photograph our jouney there.

Waiting for the bus...
James wanted to try his photography skills of the rest of us.
Where we got off the bus. We know when to hit the button - when we see the neon pink building up ahead! Notice the car parked up on the sidewalk...this is common. From here we have a 10 minute walk to the library.
And here's the library! So many books, so little space! This is looking in from the entrance.
Another shot from the opposite side of the room, which leads out to the classrooms.

One of the classrooms...there are three in all.
From the library we went by bus to the HanSeo University about 20 minutes away. We filled an auditorium room.
Waiting for the program to begin...James finishes his book report last minute!
Elisa is a teacher at the library. She was the announcer for the evening.
Jesse & Joy sang "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" with their class.
James read his book report on Sherlock Holmes and told why he liked the book.

Afterwards, Professor Aaron Jolly, Australian, (who both teaches at the University and the Library) personally introduced James to the audience. Before he was finished, he had myself and Jesse & Joy up with him as well. He told them how we'd met - on a bus to Seoul (about 2 months after we'd arrived) when James went to sit by him so he could speak English to someone. He thought this little kid would be talked out in no time, and was surprised when James kept up a running conversation for the whole trip, nearly 2 hours long. After the bus arrived, Prof. Jolly introduced himself and invited us to the library. First James took classes, then Jesse & Joy began to as well. They all enjoy the classes and being with the other kids since it has not worked out for them to attend the elementary school here in DaeSan.
Professor Ralph Cousins, Canadian, (another Professor at both the University and the Library) hands out goodies to the children after the program. A book and a candy cane.

Two librarians from the library. Mrs. Jeong and Ms. Holly.

Well, these should give you a good picture of who we are with when we go to the library for classes! Next year, we may start going more than once a week. They have classes M-F. So far, we've only joined in on the Wednesday classes to see how it went. It's going well enough, though, so we'll see what happens.

Wanda,
Thanks so much for that post. I can now picture where you are alittle better. I am so glad to hear that you have heard from others in your situation and their struggles to adjust. Satan really likes to make us feel alone, like we are the only one in the world struggling and feeling isolated. Someday you will be able to be a great encouragement to someone else struggling..."Let me tell you about my move to South Korea....". Merry Christmas
