We took a day trip to An Thi to go visit Jesse and Joy's orphanage where they were born. I think this trip is one that will change my life. An Thi is a place where both handicapped people and orphaned children may go to be cared for. We went there and passed out some items to the residents and spent time with them. Just going there helped make me think how thankful I should be to be able to have air conditioning and just simply to be able to be physically active. Also, it helped me to think about all of the ways I might complain about something as comfortable as my bed when they are sleeping on straw mats that have been placed on the floor or on a hard metal bed frame. After we left An Thi, we went to ceramic factory that had a giant kiln where they baked the clay pots and other dishes. The kiln was basically a huge building with several different ovens. After we left the factory, we were on our way back to our hotel. The guide bought some sugar cane and gave some for us to try. It was sweet but you did not eat the whole thing because sugar cane is a stalk made up of several tough fibers. Therefore, you spit the fibers out after you have gotten the sweet juice out of it.
